Capturing Fall Family Moments at Veteran Acres in Crystal Lake
Last month, I had the wonderful opportunity to reconnect with Haley and Nick, whom I’d photographed almost 8 years back at their wedding in Lincolnshire IL. This time, I was thrilled to capture family photos at Crystal Lake with their growing family, which now includes their energetic little one, Eli. It’s always special to see couples again and witness the beautiful changes in their lives. Taking family photos at Crystal Lake brought back wonderful memories.
We chose Veteran Acres Forest Preserve in Crystal Lake for the session. With autumn in full bloom, the forest was alive with golden leaves, and the evening sunlight streaming through made for the perfect backdrop for family photos in Crystal Lake. Eli was an absolute delight, bringing tons of energy and smiles to every shot. He was curious, playful, and filled with that pure joy that children bring to a session.
To make the evening even more magical, we spotted two geese flying across the sky, and I captured a few shots of everyone gazing up together, creating a truly special moment that felt like a scene out of a storybook. Family photos at Crystal Lake are always unique and full of charm.
To top off an already wonderful day, we included the family dog Chip in a few photos towards the end, adding a personal touch to the family portraits. It was such a pleasure to spend this time with Haley, Nick, and Eli, capturing moments they can look back on as their family continues to grow. Spending this time capturing family photos at Crystal Lake in Veteran Acres was the perfect way to reflect the warmth and connection of this beautiful family on a perfect fall day.
