It’s always a special feeling when past wedding clients come back for new milestones — and this session with Lisa and Raj was one of those beautiful full-circle moments.
We photographed Lisa and Raj’s wedding three years ago, and when they reached out for maternity portraits at Milton Lee Olive Park, I was honored. There’s something truly touching about witnessing a couple’s journey over the years and getting to capture their growing family.
For this maternity session, we met at Milton Lee Olive Park in Chicago — a hidden gem for portraits, especially in late spring. The day couldn’t have been more perfect: sunny skies, mild temperatures, and just the right amount of breeze. The park was in full bloom and the peaceful atmosphere gave us the perfect backdrop to work with for these maternity pictures.
We began the session with portraits of Lisa, who looked radiant and glowing with anticipation. Her calm presence and joy were so natural in front of the camera. As Raj joined in, we captured a mix of tender, candid moments as well as posed portraits, all framed by the lush greenery and the sparkling Chicago skyline in the background of our Milton Lee Olive Park session.
Milton Lee Olive Park offers such a gorgeous variety — lake views, city skyline, and peaceful walking paths — making it one of my favorite spots for capturing memories like these, including many maternity pictures.
Lisa and Raj chose outfits that were both timeless and complementary to the serene lakefront backdrop. Lisa wore a textured, rose-colored dress with puffed sleeves that highlighted her natural glow and beautifully framed her baby bump. Raj opted for a classic black button-down shirt and dark trousers — a clean, understated look that kept the focus on their joyful connection. Together, they looked effortlessly elegant against the glimmering water and soft spring sunlight during their Milton Lee Olive Park maternity session.
One of the most touching moments of the session was when Lisa brought along a printed sonogram. We captured a series of heartfelt portraits of her holding the image of their baby, standing against the backdrop of Lake Michigan with the iconic Chicago skyline behind them. The combination of the glistening water, the city’s architectural beauty, and the couple’s tender expressions made for an emotional and unforgettable frame—one that perfectly symbolized the love and anticipation surrounding this new chapter in their lives.
Another sweet highlight from our session was a simple yet powerful pose—Lisa forming a heart with her hands over her growing belly. With the soft glow of the late spring sun casting a gentle light on her, this gesture radiated love, excitement, and a quiet strength. It was a beautiful way to visually express the deep bond already forming between mother and baby, and it added such a personal, intimate touch to the story of their maternity journey at Milton Lee Olive Park.
One of the most touching moments from our session was when Raj surprised Lisa with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers. It added a romantic and thoughtful touch to the session, showing just how much love and excitement they both share as they await their new arrival. We captured several portraits with Lisa holding the bouquet while standing beside Raj, and the soft colors of the flowers complemented her dress perfectly. Against the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline, it felt like the scene belonged in a storybook from our Milton Lee Olive Park maternity pictures.
During the session, Lisa and Raj shared the sweetest news with me — they’re expecting a baby girl. Hearing her name brought an extra layer of joy to our time together, and I could already feel the love they have for their little one. Knowing her name made the photos feel even more meaningful, a beautiful beginning to her story that started with their maternity pictures at Milton Lee Olive Park.
