Abby’s day started the way we love to start every quinceañera: getting ready at home, surrounded by the quiet excitement before a big celebration. From there, we headed to one of our favorite portrait locations in the area, the Morton Arboretum, to photograph Abby with her court, her brother, her cousin, and her closest friends, all part of her celebration from the very beginning. The Arboretum’s natural light and grounds gave us so much to work with, and the portraits from that afternoon are some of our favorites from the whole day.
A Celebration Rooted in Family
Once the celebration moved to Carlisle Banquet Hall in Lombard, Abby’s dad, Ty, was there for every part of her day, and it showed. He walked her through the traditional shoe change, presenting her with her first pair of heels — one of the most meaningful traditions of the quinceañera, marking her transition from girlhood into young womanhood. Later, father and daughter shared a dance together, one of the quieter, more emotional moments of the reception.
Abby’s mother passed away some time ago, and her family made sure she was still very much part of the celebration. During the reception, Abby danced with a photo of her mom, a moment that meant a great deal to everyone in the room, and one we felt honored to be able to capture for her family to keep forever.
Alongside these family moments, Abby’s celebration at Carlisle Banquet Hall included all the traditions that make a quinceañera so special: the rose dance, the cake cutting, and several beautifully choreographed dance performances that Abby and her court had clearly put a lot of heart into rehearsing.
