I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dana and Ryan since 2020 when I captured their beautiful, intimate wedding in Lincoln Park and second wedding where Charli was part of it and took place at Chicago City Winery Venue. Fast forward to 2024, and I had the joy of photographing a special milestone for their family: celebrating their son Brooks’ first birthday with a cake smash and mini family session.
This session was set against the picturesque shores of the Fox River in Algonquin, IL, surrounded by golden oak trees. The autumn hues provided the perfect backdrop for this memorable day. Brooks was overjoyed to see his cake, but he impressed us all with his restraint, only tasting it. His older sister, Charli, however, was thrilled to get in on the fun and enthusiastically smashed the cake—making for some truly priceless moments!
